What is shopmobility
Shopmobility is a free service. We provide mobility for anyone (not only the disabled) who have a mobility problem. There are electric wheelchairs and scooters, or manual wheelchairs all available for use by members of the public. Whether it is a shopping trip to Merthyr or going to the seaside for the day. You leave a £2 deposit and the wheelchair is yours till 4 o'clock. The office is situated by the Police station in Merthyr Tydfil, it is open from 9.15am till 4.00pm. There are disabled toilets in the building and just outside. The disabled car parking is near by, but there is a charge for the parking, subject to council rules, 30 pence for 2 hours. They are getting so popular that it is now advisable to phone and book your wheelchair to make sure you will not be dissappointed. Everyone who uses the service is welcome to come to the meetings of the user group, where we discuss things that have happened since the last meeting, how to improve the service, and how to get people out and about and enjoying life through their disablitity. Our user group motto is .......... "I have got a right". So come and join us and become mobile again.
